Player of the Decade
Hi frndz today we ll discuss about the Best player of the Deccade (2000-2010).
there were many best players who showed the world their skills and talent but we ll talk about the best of the best.
todays current Fifa word player of the year is Cristiano Ronaldo (i personally think currently Lionel messi is the best). but there r other players who created magic and shocked the world with their brilliance.here are few players.........(this is not a Top 10 list)
1. Zinedine Zidane
The mercurial frenchmen who won the Fifa world player of the year award a record 3 times (1998,2000,2003) showed the world with his brilliant comeback that he has enough class left in him when he single handedly knocked out Brazil out of the quaterfinals of Fifa world cup 2006. he also scored the only goal in the finals in 2006 world cup. If u go back to Euro 2004 he knocked out England with two goals (a freekick and penalty). he won the World cup 1998 and scored two goals in the Finals against Brazil. Zidane was the worlds costliest player at his time when he was transferred from Juventus to Real Madrid (78million euros)at 2001 he helped them win the Uefa champions league and scored the match winning goal in the finals. Zidanes carreer didnt ended in the right way when he was shown the red card for headbutting Materazzi in the final of world cup 2006. but he surely deserves to be the Best player of the decade.
2. Ronaldinho
The former World player winner can easily claim dat he is the best player of the decade as he won the World cup in 2002 and between 2004 and 2006 won every personal honour in the world of football. He won the World Player of the year two times continously (2004,2005) when he was playing for Barcelona. he won the Uefa champions league with Barcelona in 2006. Ronaldinho conquered the world with his pace and breath taking dribbles. he break any defence in the world easily with his pace and determination. Ronaldinho scored the match winning goal against England in the Worldcup 2002 in the quaterfinals with a breathtaking
freekick. Now his pace must have become slow but he still makes headlines with his flashing killer passes in AC Milan.
3. Theirry Henry
Not the most popular player after his handball controversy but henry at his peak was unrivalled in world football. At Arsenal he was the 'Hitman' whom defenders used to fear and was a part of the 'Invincibles' team that was undefeated in the 2003-2004 season in premier league. The frenchman won two premier league and three Fa cup titles. he is the all time leading scorer of Arsenal with 226 goals and was voted the Best player in the history of Arsenal. He was voted the PFA player of the year twice and was twice nominated for Fifa world player of the year. The frenchman tasted a similar success in international football as he won the 1998 world cup and Euro 2000. he won the Treble (Uefa champions league and league title and the league cup) with Barcelona in 2008-2009 season. He is not at his best now but still hammers the defence with his mindblowing skills.
4. Steven Gerrard
Despite not having won the premier league his Last minute match winning thunder strikes for liverpool made him the Best in the world. The England midfielder is a driving force behind liverpool's Champions league runs over the past few years. he captained liverpool and led them to two champions league finals (2005,2007) out of which they won the champions league in 2005 beating AC milan and he inspired his team to comeback from 3-0 down to win the game by netting the team's first goal. he was given the Uefa champions league player of the year in that season. he scored twice in the Fa cup final agaist West Ham in 2006. he was voted the PFA player of the year in that season. He was voted second in the Best players in Liverpool history by liverpool fans. He can be credited for rescuing liverpool from defeats many times which could have knocked them out.
5. Kaka
The Brazillian Mastereo stole the headlines of world football with his amazing runs and killer passes. The former World player of the year (2007) won the Uefa champions league 2007 with Ac milan and also won the SerieA in 2003. his class and talent can be seen when he scored two brilliant goals (one skipping 3 defenders) against Manchester united in the champions league semifinals. He was part of the World cup 2002 squad. His brilliance of skills can be seen when he outran Lionel messi while taking the ball down three quaters of the field to score against Argentina in a friendly match. He is also worth 65 million euros, a sum paid by Real madrid to bring him to the Bernabeu with Ronaldo this summer.
6. Cristiano Ronaldo
The current holder of the world player of the year is arguably regarded as the Best of the Decade by many football fans. he has won every individual awards in the Football world. he caught the worlds attention by his asthonishing freekicks and smooth dribbles.he netted an amazing 42 goals in the 2007-2008 season in Manchester united where he helped them win the champions league and premier league title in 2008 and helped them reach the their fouth consecutive finals in 2009. his brilliance can be seen in the match when he scored a 40 yarder stunner agaist porto on 2009 season. He is currently the worlds most expensive footballer who was transferred to Real madrid for an record breaking 80 million euros. Ronaldo was welcomed by 80,000 fans at his presentation at the Santiago Bernabue stadium surpassing Diego Maradona's record of 75000 fans when he was presented in Italy , after he was transferred from Barcelona to Napoli. Three time Ballond'or winner Johan cruyff said in an interview "Ronaldo is better than George Best and Denis Law , who were two brilliant and great players in the History of Manchester united".
7. Lionel Messi
The argentenian superstar won the Ballon d'or 2009 this sunday after a amazing treble winning season(2008-2009) at Barcelona. He is not yet known as the 'Golden boy' like his fellow Argentine footballer Diego Maradona but Lionel messi has all the maradona class. he has got vision, Tactical genious and he has proved that he can handle pressure. he has won two uefa champions league (2006,2009) in which he scored a goal in the final against Manchester united in 2009. he was the top score of the champions league with 9 goals and was also crowned Uefa player of the year 2009. he also scored 2 goals against Real madrid in an historic match where Barcelona won 6-2. Messi is now set to display his talent and skills in the upcoming world cup stage at South Africa next year and will hopefully leave his mark in the history of football. And that is not all as you will see more of this young superstar in the upcoming years as he is just 22yr old.
for me Zidane is my all time fav but i think Ronaldinho deserves to be the player of the Decade as he has dominated most of the years of this decade.
